Baby gender scan

Baby gender scanning is one of the most exciting times among
expectant couples and the rest of the family members who are excited too
about the additional member of the family. Baby gender scan is done
after 20 weeks of conception and determine the sex of your baby. After
performing a well being examination, the sonographer can tell you
whether your baby is a boy or a girl. How does baby gender scan work?
The sonographer will discover the gender of your baby through the use
of the ultrasound. A baby girl will show three parallel bright lines
within the genital area, while a baby boy will express a round swollen
area within the genital area which referred to as the scrotum and the
penis. It looks like a small snail when shown on TV screen. How
accurate is a baby gender scan?
Honestly, a baby gender scan is not 100 % sure in determining the
gender of your baby, although the number of the accurate results is
greater than that of the inaccurate results. Baby gender scan has an
accuracy of about 95 % to 97% only. It can never be a hundred percent
because there are some cases wherein the images are unclear.

You also have to remember that the absence of the penis and the scrotum
does mean that your baby is a girl. Your sonographer knows this very
well and he will not tell you that you are having a baby boy unless he
saw the penis and the scrotum. He will first confirm whether he has
actually seen these two. The three lines give the sign that the fetus is
a baby girl. While in some cases, as early as 16 weeks, a sonographer
should be able to identify the sex of the baby, there are also cases
wherein even at the 28th weeks of conception, a sonographer can hardly
tell whether his or her patient is carrying a baby boy or a baby girl.
This can happen especially when the formation of the child inside his
mother’s womb does not show the signs that tell the gender. The
sonographers are the only people in the position to tell you just how
correct or accurate their diagnoses are at that particular ultrasound
scan performed. At 20 weeks, ultrasound scan should be accurate between
95 % up to 97%, however, a sonographer may have difficulty in finding a
good view of the private parts of the fetus for a type of reason.
Therefore, the sonographer may not be able to provide you with an
accurate report as to whether your baby is a boy or a girl. If at the
20th weeks and yet the doctor was not sure about the gender of the baby,
you can always come back for another baby gender scan in the next
remaining weeks of your conception before you will give birth. Surely,
determining your baby’s gender is important because it will not only
help you prepare for the baby’s name but also it will help in preparing
baby clothes and other things needed. |
